About Our 2019 Celebration

Honoring service members & veterans

The 2019 Courthouse Lighting Ceremony is Tuesday, Nov. 26th at 7 p.m. This year we will honor our service members and veterans

with a fireworks show coordinated to music and a 25-foot Christmas tree decorated with 5,000 LED lights in the Courthouse Rotunda.

From 4-7 p.m. we will have bounce houses and a band as well as military and first responder vehicles on display in front of the

Pueblo County Courthouse which is located at 215 W. 10th Street in Pueblo, CO.

The Courthouse Lighting is completely funded with private money.

We rely heavily on your sponsorship and donation. Please consider

making a donation by clicking on the donate button!

The Pueblo County Courthouse will be completely decorated with

all new Christmas Decorations for the 2019 celebration. There will

be dozens of Christmas trees decorated with thousands of

LED lights.

we rely on your donation

The Pueblo County Courthouse Lighting is completely funded through private

donations and sponsors. In 2019 25 businesses raised a total of $25,000 to make

the program extra special. We rely heavily on sponsors and donors to make the

lighting ceremony what it is today. Any business, private person, or organization

may be a sponsor. In return for sponsorship your logo and business name will

be put on all of the marketing flyers and posters. Marketing materials reach

thousands of people within the Pueblo community.

Each year we wisely use private donor money to purchase a nice fireworks show.

The show is then coordinated to music. The fireworks company we use purchases

their product from the same distributor as Disney World. We love to make

the fireworks show bigger, brighter, and better every year. We also use donor money

to rent bounce houses for the kids and to bring in a band, cartoon portrait artist,

and other fun entertainment for the Pueblo Community.

The Pueblo County Courthouse Lighting started in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks.

Former Pueblo County Commissioner Matt Peulen thought the County should do

something for Christmas. Mr. Peulen thought it would be nice to light up Pueblo's

Courthouse during the annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. The tradition of decorating

the courthouse has been going on since 1912, when the Courthouse was constructed.

Traditionally, the Courthouse Lighting is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Each year

the Courthouse is decorated on the inside based on the theme that is selected.

Dozens of kids always look forward to getting

a cartoon portrait of themselves during the

lighting ceremony.

During the 2018 ceremony we honored first

responders and many of them showed off

their vehicles to the public and talked to kids!

The Christmas tree in the Rotunda of the

Pueblo County Courthouse is always special.

In 2019, we will have a 25-foot tree decorated with 5,000 LED lights.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office showed

off their DARE vehicle to the public during

the 2018 lighting ceremony.

Many first responders talked with the public during the 2018 ceremony about their career and why its important to give back to the community.

The 2019 fireworks show will be completely coordinated to music and will be shot off the roof of the Pueblo County Courthouse.
